Patricia C. Wrede is a writer I enjoy reading immensely. She creates witty, charming, fascinating characters that I love to read over and over, especially her Enchanted Forest Quartet.

Book of Enchantments is a collection of her short stories through the last twenty years or so. Some of them were a little too short, some were decent but not great. My favorite would have to be her Frying Pan of Doom, a return to the characters and setting of the Enchanted Forest. Very lighthearted and funny, I could read a whole book of short stories just about the Enchanted Forest.
More impression are to come, maybe.
As for the Assassin’s Apprentice, I’m stalled on it for the moment. It’s kind of slow going, the plot hasn’t picked up yet. We took our get-rid-of books and movies to Half Price on Friday and made almost a hundred bucks, which was nice, and of course that meant I had to spend a little bit of it on books that I actually wanted to keep.

Also, as of today, January 30th, 2007 I’m almost nine months pregnant, 39 weeks to be exact. We’re waiting on the appearance of our first born. Hopefully he’ll arrive in a timely manner, today would have been nice as it’s my uncle and grandfather’s birthday. But with a little under 3 hours left of the day, I doubt he’ll make it under the line at this point. I’m looking forward to being able to rest a book on my stomach without it moving seemingly on its own. Bouncing words are hard to follow.
