A blog about the books that make their way into my life, along with all things
nerdy. Reviews, discussions, feminist commentary, and some cultural travel and outings on the side. Kicking ass and being awesome is in there somewhere, too.
I’ve changed my occupation and my working vs. staying home status many times since I started this blog. These things can sometimes be mutually exclusive, but I try.
I’ve let this blog languish for long periods of time over the years, and that may continue indefinitely.
I have a passion for the written word, in any form, but specifically in books. I grew up reading on the bus, in class, walking home, on Saturdays and at the dinner table. (That last one drove my little brother nuts!) I devoured books, swallowed them whole and made them a part of my body, and most importantly, my soul. There are many things I could do without in my life, but never, ever could I do without books.
I used to focus on science fiction and fantasy titles, and those are still my true blue friends. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve begun to push myself further into other genres, and my reviews will reflect that. I’m really, really trying to understand this crazy literary world, and make my mark upon it.
Culture in general is what this blog is about, with books being the larger part of that culture. I don’t know what I’ll be doing a year from now, or even a month from now. But I know that I’ll keep writing, and keep blogging, and definitely keep reading. Please join me, and I hope what you read strikes some chord within you, too.
