It’s interesting that you mention the LGBTQ2 issue regarding getting published. I was in a Chapters bookstore a few years ago and I actually saw a sales representative tell a customer not to read Tanya Huff’s books because she writes about queer-oriented characters. I couldn’t believe this. When the customer insisted on reading the book, the sales rep said “Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you.” You are right to acknowledge that the representation of LGBTQ2 characters in SF is still rare and that systemic discrimination filters through in different parts of the publishing and book-selling process.
